Are the Umuofian people uncivilized? In Things Fall Apart, a novel by Chinua Achebe, events be shown that prove the Umuofian people are uncivilized, which makes them savages.
In the Umuofian friendship there were no hospitals or schools. The Umuofians did non have an education system until the missionaries arrived. This shows they did not understand the enormousness of knowledge and how more education can make them a stronger society. As a result, they were a very basic society. In addition, the Christians brought hospitals to the Umuofians. The Egwugwu did not care about their citizens health issues, and they did not understand the importance of many medicines. As a result, health care and education were not a priority for the Umuofians.
The Umuofian society did not have any written laws or language. For example, when Enoch removed the Egwugwus mask, the Egwugwu did not have a punishment for the offense; indeed they burned his house down.
Without written laws, the Egwugwu had no idea of how to take place a beseeming civilization or know what proper punishment is. Another example is shown through their language which consists of exclusively thirty-six actors line. This shows that the people have limited communication. This also shows that their society was very basic. As a result, laws and language did not field to the Umuofians.
The Umuofians are considered savages, which makes them uncivilized. They have no understanding of healthcare or education. The language they speak doesnt have enough words to make sense. The society they live in is a poorly(predicate) run community.
