Stephen Stevie Ray Vaughn was born on October 3, 1954 in Dallas, Texas. His parents were Martha and Jimmie Big Jim Vaughn. It was because of them that Stevie and his dude Jimmie got into medicine. One solar day Doyle Bramhall, who at the time was the lead singer for The Chessmen was picking up Jimmie for a gig when he over heard schoolboyish Stevie playing his guitar. He was the first soul to tell Stevie that he was good. When Stevie was 12 years old he started playing with various garage rock bands.
